The first impression of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute might be a typical technical school because STEM and ART are two discrete subjects nowadays. However, the word polytechnic comes from French polytechnique, which comes from Greek polutekhnos. It means polu- ‘many’ and tekhnē ‘art’. Needless to say, RPI is not merely a technical school. Many artists also gather here, using the advanced technologies available to create new types of art of this new century.
Hindsight2020 is the intended space for showcasing the thesis works created by the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute’s Creative Seminar class of 2020. The students have created these projects as a culmination of the knowledge and experience they have gained throughout their artistic endeavors and time spent at RPI. Throughout the academic year 2019-2020, the members of the class planned and created their individual projects, producing the works on this site. These works are comprised of all kinds of 2D and 3D art, including games, animation, and more.
Due to the ongoing pandemic, the intended physical exhibit was cancelled. Even so, the class was able to make the transition from a physical space to a digital space.
We listed our graduating artists below. Behind each photo, there is a different artwork, different identity, and different story.
